the munro beanie

Tradition

The creation of these hats was inspired by a story my friends father told me several years ago when I started climbing the Munros. He told me of a Scottish custom where walkers would stitch a red cross in their woollen hats to mark each summit.

I was captivated by this and keen to create a beanie which brought the tradition back to life.

For me, the hills in Scotland are a place of beauty, wilderness and magic. Although I can't find anything about his tale elsewhere, two people have since told me they have heard of the tradition and the mystery seems in keeping with that of the hills.

Whether you climb two, or two hundred Munro's, I hope this beanie is part of your personal journey and captures your memories in a special way.

£1 from every beanie sale will be donated to the Scottish Mountain Rescue
